As a speech pathologist in private practice and under contract with Suffolk County serving school district CPSE’s for nine years, I have remediated primarily preschoolers who stutter. My experience has shown that some of these children, requiring continued speech therapy in kindergarten, would be placed with a different speech teacher, using a different approach for a fluency disorder. To remedy this situation, I developed a training program for those speech pathologists that might remediate some of the same children I had through CPSE. Philosophically and practically, it makes sense to maintain the same approach toward fluency for these children.
